1. FUNCTIONAL CONTENT

 

Main Role

 

The Global Medical Excellence & Operations Manager is responsible for driving operational excellence, governance, and continuous improvement across the Global Medical function. The role ensures that Medical strategies are translated into scalable processes, high-quality execution, and measurable impact, while enabling Medical teams to operate efficiently, compliantly, and in close alignment with business priorities.
This role acts as a strategic enabler and operational backbone of the Global Medical organization.

 

Roles

Your key responsibilities will include:

 

Medical Excellence

  • Design, implement, and continuously improve global Medical Excellence frameworks, standards, and best practices.
  • Drive consistency and quality in Medical activities across regions and therapeutic areas.
  • Support Field Medical (MSL) Excellence by defining and monitoring Medical KPIs, dashboards, and performance metrics to support data-driven decision-making.
  • Define and support capability building initiatives related to Medical excellence (MSL/Med Advisor), ways of working, and operational rigor.

 

Medical Operations & Governance

  • Lead global Medical governance processes, including planning cycles, prioritization, and resource optimization.
  • Establish and maintain efficient Medical operating models, workflows, and SOPs in collaboration with key stakeholders.
  • Ensure alignment with compliance, regulatory, and quality requirements in partnership with Legal, Compliance, and QA.
  • Act as a central point of coordination for cross-functional Medical initiatives.
  • Optimize and drive adoption of medical CRM tool / medical dashboards.
  • Provide strategic & operational lead for internal and external medical events (congresses, standalone, preceptorship, AB, etc.) ensuring excellence in the coordination of the scientific content and the teams involved.
  • Create, develop and strengthen the Medical community.

 

Strategic Enablement & Execution

  • Translate Global Medical strategy into actionable operational plans and execution roadmaps.
  • Support the Global Medical Leadership Team with structured insights, analysis, and recommendations.
  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives to increase efficiency, impact, and scalability of Medical activities.
  • Identify operational risks and proactively propose mitigation actions.

 

Stakeholder Management

  • Partner closely with Global Medical leaders, regional Medical teams, and cross-functional stakeholders (Commercial, R&D, Market Access, HR, etc.).
  • Act as a trusted advisor on Medical operations, excellence, and performance topics.
  • Facilitate alignment between global strategy and local execution needs.

Job Relationships

  • Internal: global and local medical affairs, clinical development, marketing, market access, regulatory, pharmacovigilance, digital.
  • External: Collaborates with external training providers, consultants and benchmarking partners. Occasional interaction with industry peers, medical societies and external stakeholders for best practice exchange.

 

3. JOB PROFILE

 

Qualifications and professional experience

  • University degree in Life Sciences, Pharmacy, Medicine, or related field.
  • Advanced degree (e.g., MSc, PhD, PharmD, MBA, or Master’s in Medical/Scientific Communication) is a strong asset.
  • 5–8+ years of experience in Medical Affairs, Medical Operations, or Medical Excellence roles within the pharmaceutical or life sciences industry.
  • Proven experience in global or matrix environments.
  • Strong track record in process design, operational excellence, and change implementation.
