1. FUNCTIONAL CONTENT

 

Main Role

The Medical Science Liaison (MSL) is a key member of the Medical Affairs team, responsible for the execution of the company’s medical and scientific strategy at regional level. The MSL acts as a scientific expert and trusted partner, fostering high-quality scientific exchange with external stakeholders and contributing to the generation of value through education, research, and insights.

The MSL serves as the scientific bridge between the company and the healthcare ecosystem, supporting all phases of product development and lifecycle management, while ensuring alignment with internal cross-functional teams.

 

Scientific Engagement & External Stakeholders

  • Establish, develop, and maintain trusted relationships with Key Opinion Leaders (KOLs), healthcare professionals (HCPs), scientific societies, and patient associations.
  • Develop and execute a regional KOL engagement plan, including mapping of new stakeholders and identification of rising experts.
  • Act as the regional scientific expert for assigned therapeutic areas and products, providing accurate, balanced, and compliant medical information to external stakeholders and internal teams.
  • Promote scientific exchange and education on disease areas and company products.

 

Medical Strategy Execution

  • Adapt and implement the national medical plan at a regional level in collaboration with Medical Advisors and cross-functional teams (Commercial, Market Access).
  • Contribute to account planning, ensuring alignment across functions and addressing identified medical gaps.
  • Identify unmet medical needs and opportunities, contributing to strategic decision-making and regional medical planning.

 

Insights Generation

  • Gather, analyze, and communicate actionable medical insights from the field to local and global brand and medical teams.
  • Develop a deep understanding of the healthcare ecosystem and patient journey to inform strategy.

 

Evidence Generation & Research

  • Support and implement Investigator Initiated Studies (IIS), Real World Evidence (RWE), and observational studies.
  • Collaborate in clinical research activities, including site identification, feasibility assessments, study initiation, recruitment follow-up, and coordination with investigators and CROs.
  • Identify opportunities for new evidence generation aligned with medical strategy.
  • Support scientific publications, abstracts, and presentations.

 

Medical Projects & Education

  • Design and execute regional medical projects that add value in areas such as medical education, scientific dissemination, and patient care improvement.
  • Support scientific events, congresses, symposia, and training initiatives.
  • Contribute to internal scientific training programs.

 

Cross-functional Collaboration

  • Actively collaborate with internal stakeholders (Medical, Commercial, Market Access, etc.) to ensure aligned execution of strategic objectives.
  • Provide scientific support to internal teams, including training and materials when needed.

 

Field Medical Excellence & Compliance

  • Ensure excellence in field medical activities, including reporting (using CRM), planning (with tools like Veeva Link), and execution.
  • Manage medical information requests ensuring appropriate scientific response and alignment with internal processes.
  • Ensure full compliance with regulatory requirements, internal policies, and industry codes of practice.
  • Demonstrate budget awareness and efficient resource utilization.

3. JOB PROFILE

 

Required Studies

  • Advanced degree in Life Sciences (MD, PharmD, PhD, or equivalent).
  • Additional postgraduate education in relevant fields is considered an asset.

 

Other Specialized Knowledge

  • Strong scientific expertise and ability to communicate complex medical information clearly.
  • Excellent interpersonal, communication, and presentation skills.
  • Proven ability to build and maintain relationships with external stakeholders (KOLs, HCPs).
  • High level of influence and stakeholder engagement capability.
  • Strong organizational and planning skills with ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Strategic thinking and business acumen.
  • Insight generation and analytical capability.

Languages

  • Fluent in Spanish.
  • B2 in English.

 

Professional Experience

  • Minimum 2–4 years of experience in the pharmaceutical/healthcare industry, preferably as an MSL.
  • Experience in the assigned therapeutic area is strongly preferred.
  • Experience in clinical research, RWE, or medical projects is highly valuable.
  • International exposure is a plus.
