TAX Manager

Main Role

 

 As part of our continued growth and international expansion, we are looking for a Tax Manager to join our Legal team within Finance. In this role, you will support the company's global tax operations by coordinating with local and international tax advisors, contributing to M&A and corporate restructuring projects, advising internal stakeholders on the tax implications of new business initiatives, and supporting tax audits in Spain and across multiple jurisdictions. You will play a key role in ensuring tax compliance while helping the business grow in a dynamic international environment.

 

Main responsibilities

 

1. Tax Compliance in Spain

 

  • Review VAT returns (monthly/quarterly), SII reporting, and related informative filings.
  • Manage other applicable indirect taxes (e.g., transfer taxes, stamp duty, excise duties on alcohol, plastic tax, local taxes).
  • Review VAT accounting and perform reconciliations.
  • Manage VAT refund processes and monitor recoverable balances.

 

2. International Coordination

 

  • Oversee VAT and indirect tax compliance for international subsidiaries (EU and non-EU).
  • Coordinate with local tax advisors and in-country finance teams.
  • Review international VAT returns and monitor local filing obligations and registrations.
  • Support VAT registrations in new jurisdictions (business expansion, new supply chain flows, etc.).

 

3. Internal Advisory

 

  • Provide VAT advice to internal stakeholders (Finance, Legal, Operations, Supply Chain, Sales).
  • Analyze complex transactions (cross-border operations, triangular transactions, EU and non-EU transfers of own goods, etc.).
  • Participate in tax structuring, M&A and integration projects.

 

4. Risk Management & Audits

 

  • Identify and mitigate indirect tax risks.
  • Support tax audits and inspections.
  • Implement and strengthen internal tax controls.

 

5. Process Improvement & Digitalization

 

  • Optimize tax compliance and reporting processes.
  • Participate in tax technology and automation projects.
  • Improve tax data quality within ERP systems.

 

6. Regulatory Monitoring

 

  • Monitor VAT and indirect tax regulatory developments at local and international levels.
  • Assess business impact and ensure timely implementation of changes.

 

Organization chart & Job Relationships

 

Line Manager: Tax Director

Direct Reporting: Tax Specialist and trainee (shared with other Tax manager)

External Relationships: Tax international advisors, Tax Authorities, Customer and providers, among others.

 

Key skills and experience required

 

  • Strong knowledge of Spanish and EU VAT regulations
  • Solid experience in taxation
  • Previous experience in tax law firm or big 4 tax department is required.
  • Experience in providing advice in connection with VAT treatment and withholdings
  • Excellent communication and coordination abilities.
  • Ability to manage multiple jurisdictions and deadlines.
  • Familiarity with international VAT frameworks
  • Experience in providing advice to multinational companies
  • Experience in tax audits and tax proceedings before the tax authorities
  • Participation in M&A transactions and restructurings
  • Fluent in Spanish & English (3rd European language a plus)
  • Microsoft office suite (Excel is a must)
  • Strong technical expertise and attention to detail.
